Automated Acquisitions/In-Process Control Systems Interest Group
Charge: Provides a forum for discussing development and implementation of automated acquisitions/in-process control systems in libraries. Topics of discussion include:
- automating traditional functions like order generation, receipt, check-in, claiming, cancellations, fund accounting, in-process control, and binding of monographs and serials;
- compatibility of these automated functions and integration with other online systems in the library;
- developing standardization for machine-readable acquisitions and in-process records at national levels;
- communication formats for online library systems;
- communication formats for online and tape transfer of order and vendor information;
- public access to in-process records and the need for authority control at the in-process stage; and
- integrating machine-readable in-process records with full and brief cataloging records.
Also allows practical exchange of information on implementing commercial and in-house library acquisitions and processing systems.
