Chief Collection Development Officers at Large Research Libraries IG

Charge

To discuss the various collection development and collection management issues of concern to large research libraries. To provide a forum for the exchange of information on new developments, techniques, and problems in managing the development of library collections. Membership criteria: open to all chief collection development officers of the first forty university libraries listed in the Association of Research Libraries annual statistical report. The basis for identification of the libraries is an average of the libraries' rank in all twelve categories in which the ARL prepares rank orders.

ALA values committed and active committee members. Qualified members are welcome to volunteer to serve on this committee. Committee members must have an interest in the work of the committee; be able to attend Annual Conferences and Midwinter Meetings to participate in the meetings and activities of the committee; and be able to work between conferences via e-mail and ALA Connect. Express your interest in serving on this or other committees by filling out an application form. Appointments take place once a year, during the spring. Committee service usually begins following Annual Conference, about July 1.
